Upon
returning to Mississippi in 1994, the Walker’s took their experience
with No Greater Love Ministries’ street witnessing ministry in New
Orleans, Louisiana during Mardi Gras and chose to focus primarily on the
Mississippi Gulf Coast.
With two
Christian floats in most of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Mardi Gras
parades each year, the ministry typically passes out more than 100,000
tracts and hundreds of Bibles during the roughly six weeks that is the
Mardi Gras season.
During
the 2008 parade season, we were blessed with the help of No Greater Love
Ministries of Du Quoin, Illinois (www.nogreaterlove.org),
Community Christian Church of Darlington Indiana, and Underwood Baptist
Church of Florence, Alabama (www.underwoodbaptist.org)
which sent groups to help out. Their presence was greatly appreciated
and well received.
Numerous witnessing
opportunities and professions of faith before, during and after the
actual parades took place. Through God’s provisions were able to pass
out over 100,000 tracts and 3400 Bibles! We had a significant
increase of Bibles from last year. What a Blessing this has been!
We are looking
forward to next year. We are hoping to raise enough funds and donations
to increase the number of Bibles to hand out.
**Our goal:
6000 Bibles**
It is heart-wrenching
to see the disappointment on a person’s face who asks for a Bible and we
do not have one to give. We hope to not have to experience that next
year.

Their dedication and
faithfulness to the Lord and their willingness to join us in our
ministry by providing live music for the floats is such a blessing to
us. We believe many people were touched by the uplifting songs and
preaching that they so lovingly presented.
